For the Trees

Dear friends and family,
Since 2011 I have been researching connecting, communicating and co-creating with trees. I have co-created 1,200 drawings with trees in 10 countries and with trees as old as 5,000 years. You can see some of this work here.
In February 2023, I joined with three other tree communicators, Ellen Dee Davidson, Pamela Turczyn and Danielea Castell. We invited tree communicators worldwide to contribute to an anthology.
Since then, I have been bringing this anthology to life with 35 people from Canada, the US, England, Ireland, Slovenia, Germany, Mexico and Australia, each contributing one chapter.
In addition to the written work, there are paintings, drawings and photographs that illumine the remarkable, intimate relationships each person has explored with trees.

While working in Vietnam for six weeks in the summer of 2024, I had the opportunity to visit an ancient forest known as Cuc Phuong. The 1,000-year-old trees responded dramatically to the treeconversation drawing process. Deeply moved by this experience, my travelling companion decided to support the book by funding the work of a professional editor. With great joy, I welcomed into the project a wonderful editor, Kathryn Haralambous. After much careful work, the text is ready. Two designers have since joined the project: Veronica Marquez, who is also a contributor to the book, and Sarah Pope. The book is coming into its full expression.
I am working with a printing house in Belgium that produces books of exceptional quality – cloth covered and properly bound.
Like an acorn, the book is meant to live and grow slowly over time. It can be passed among friends, family, teachers and librarians, and it is sure to be able to withstand generations of being held, read and shared.
This is a book that may grow the new forests of the human mind, awakening thoughts that make new relationships with the living world possible.

I hope to gather the resources needed to print the book by inviting those who are able and willing to support the first edition of (1,000 or 2,000) copies in two ways:

  • To offer a gift/donation to the project
  • To pre-purchase your own copy (or copies) at the cost of $75 US (shipping fees would be additional and collected when the books are shipped to you)

If you will join with us, and with the trees, to bring this work into the world, please contact me at elysepomeranz@gmail.com

With gratitude and great anticipation,
Elyse Pomeranz
